Let’s Be Wild Weekly Photo Challenge – Camouflage

I’m participating in LetsBeWild.com’s Wild Weekly Photo Challenge. This week’s challenge is: Camouflage!

Most of the animal photos I take feature bright colors and the animals in full view. I could only find a couple of pictures that would fit this theme, but at least I really like them. :-)

Here’s a little crab that I found on Coronado Beach at low tide. It seemed to be impatiently waiting for the tide to come back up. In the meantime, it was partially hiding in the sand. It was hiding so well that I almost stepped on it. I’m glad I didn’t, so I could take this picture after I dug him out a bit. He’s still nicely covered with that gold speckled sand.

This baby koala was sleeping in a tree at the new Outback exhibit at the San Diego Zoo a few weeks ago. The koala’s gray fur helps it camouflage among the branches and leaves. But you can still see this little guy’s cute face.
